ERA 2081 / M. Fuhlbruegge |
The AC Cobra is designed and built at the AC Factory, England and like
all other machinery of advanced design, needs regular care and attention
to maximum results.
Shelby American Inc. are responsible for the conception of the car, and
in America for the fitting of the engine and gearbox, manufactured by
the Ford Motor Company of America.
AC Cars were happy to co-operate to produce a sports car of outstanding
achievement.

Few can
successfully argue that any car, past or present, has managed to win the
hearts of automotive enthusiasts so completely as the Shelby Cobra (or
AC Cobra depending on which side of the "pond" you reside). Its
status as a the ultimate automotive icon is indisputable. For
those that survived the sixties, the memories of Shelby's Cobras
dominating A & B Production, laying Corvettes and E-Types to rest,
remain vivid. Forty years have now passed since its reign.
Advances in automotive technology and design make its outdated chassis
and underpinnings archaic. It seems almost unfair then, that
when placed next to today's modern high performance, technologically
superior sports cars, whether in an
exhibition or parking lot, the Cobras will still attract all of the
attention, gather the crowds, and "steal the show".
