Originality....
For those looking to make their ERA Replica
Cobra "just like the real thing". |

Owning a vintage 1960s AC Cobra is owning
the real thing. Owning a replica Cobra is all about compromise.
For some owners, originality is not as important as simply making it
"their car". Visually, ERA provides one of the most "accurate"
replicas available. For those looking to make their ERA as close
to the "real thing" as possible , this area of the registry will help
you in your decision making process. |

What were they really like?
Fewer and fewer Cobras now survive that accurately represent the cars as
they existed in the mid-sixties. The vast majority of original 427
Cobras, for example, did not exhibit hood scoops, roll bars, or brutish
side pipes. For some, such original "street cars" are their ultimate
goal in replication. If you are a perfectionist and connoisseur of
an original street car, the following gallery may assist you in making
your ERA "just right". |

Unfortunately not available,
most 427 Cobras came equipped with 15" Sunburst wheels like those on
Pete Portante's ERA replica. These are much sought after by those
looking to build the ultimate "street" car. Originaly, 7 1/2 "
front and rear and were supplied by Halibrand and a Mexican firm,
Geramita. With the first Cobras having wide hip rear flare
configuration, these wheels looked positively lost in the rear fenders
but contributed to the Cobra "look".
