One of the few services that ERA does not
provide builders is paint. You will find, however, that several
local paint and body shops come highly recommended by the "Works".
If you choose to paint your ERA yourself, we include a few links to help
you along. |

Paint
at the "Works".
The "Snake Pit" includes a gaggle of hatchlings fresh from the local
paint booths. The bodies coming from the new molds are
exceptionally straight and clean and require a minimum of block sanding
to prepare. For those not inclined to get their hands dirty,
however, ERA recommends Tony's Auto
Builders and Connecticut Custom Cars
for show and near show quality custom paint jobs.

Picking Your Color
From the time you initially order your ERA until you
get your chassis number, you will have a great deal of time to decide
just how to option your car and select a color/paint scheme. ERA
recommends visiting
www.autocolorlibrary.com to help
decide on a color. Chips here are difficult to really gauge
however. An alternative available for spectacular colors for your
ERA is the
Kustom Koatings Color Book from
House of Kolors. Also check out John Kosmoski's CD on Kustom
Painting. This is a great how-to tape on vehicle painting
techniques and tips even for beginners. Beware...we hear Tony
turns a little green when he hears HOK paint mentioned but the colors
are truly spectacular.

Guns and Equipment
You will probably find that a quality paint job will
cost well in excess of $5,000. For the do-it-yourselfers, quality
spray guns and painting equipment are available at
Spray Gun World. Check out
DeVilbiss Finishline kits which contain good quality guns and multiple
tips for spraying heavy primer/surfacers as well as finish color coats.
You will also find filters and other equipment you will need for paint
and prep work at the Spray Gun World web site.

Painting ERA 742
"Coming Soon" to a theater near you....
The Painting of ERA 742. For those interested in seeing just how
difficult it is to do, we will be prepping and painting ERA 745 in our
shop with some how-to photos. No spray booth and in a dirty old
shop / warehouse. And yes, this is the way the body comes from the
new 427 molds. Almost no mold seam lines, waves or ripples.
